Polk County Middle’s serving is not quite where head coach Kenny Hall would like it to be this late in the season.
But the Wolverines are still doing a pretty good job of delivering points. Just ask Hendersonville Middle.
The Bearcats often struggled Monday with receiving Polk serves, and that allowed the Wolverines to claim a 25-12, 25-14 victory in Blue Ridge Conference play.

Polk Middle (5-2) raced to a big lead in the first set, winning a number of points without a serve being returned. Sidney Carroll had a key serving run midway through the set, then closed the set with a big kill from the left side.
Hendersonville Middle (0-6) battled throughout the early stages of the second set, but ultimately Polk Middle pulled away to wrap up the match.
“We’re encouraging our servers to be a little smarter with their recognition of game situations when they serve,” Hall said. “We’re just continuing to work to try to get better and finish the season on a positive note.”
Just three games remain in the shortened middle school season. The Wolverines travel Wednesday to Flat Rock before returning home Monday to host Brevard Middle in its final regular-season home match.
Polk Middle trails Rugby and Brevard by just a game in the BRC East Division standings, but will likely need to sweep those teams in the final week of the season to earn one of two division spots in the BRC postseason tourney.
