NORTH READING (CBS) – An off-duty police officer helped rescue people from a fire in North Reading.
The officer saw the flames overnight on Lowell Road and called firefighters.

He also kicked down the front door and yelled to the three people inside.
Two got out on their own. But the third had to be rescued by firefighters through a window.
All three were evaluated on the scene but not taken to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation
