Cage with Trump flag left in front Hartnell College Trustee's home - The Californian

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday that a trailer holding a wooden cage-like structure and covered in a Trump 2020 flag was parked in front of a house in Soledad.

The trailer and the Jeep towing it belongs to an employee of the Monterey County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), the MCSO wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

The post continued that the Jeep and trailer are parked legally in the Soledad neighborhood.

"The box on the trailer is used for transporting livestock in support of 4H projects," the post said. "This appears to be a part of an ongoing dispute between neighbors."

The MCSO post included that an investigation into the trailer with the box is ongoing.

Erica Padilla-Chavez, a Hartnell College Board Trustee, took to Facebook Wednesday with pictures of what she'd seen in her Soledad neighborhood.

"A cage and wrapped a Trump flag around it and parked it in front of our home," she wrote, including two pictures of the Jeep towing a trailer holding the cage.

Padilla-Chavez represents District 6 of the Hartnell Community College District (HCCD) which stretches from the Salinas Airport all the way south to Soledad.

She wrote that it was from a neighbor "who demonstrates anti-Latino sentiments. His nonverbal harassment has been escalating as of late."

Padilla-Chavez has not responded to multiple requests for comment.

Padilla-Chavez, in addition to her position on the HCCD Board of Trustees, serves as the CEO of the non-profit Pajaro Valley Prevention and Student Assistance Inc. (PVPSA).

The PVPSA, based in Watsonville, works to provide prevention education, training, and counseling services to children and families of Pajaro Valley as well as Santa Cruz and Monterey counties.

"He knows we are advocates for social justice," Padilla-Chavez wrote. "We all know that the images of our Latino children in cages has been something many of us have found deplorable."
