SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- A fight at a Sioux City middle school was caught on video and was circulating on social media this week.
KTIV was sent this video by several viewers, who asked for more information.
We reached out to the Sioux City Community School District Wednesday afternoon and received the following response, which confirms the fight happened at West Middle School:
School officials from the Sioux City Community School District are aware of a video circulating on social media of a fight that occurred at West Middle more than a week ago. Due to student privacy laws, we are not able to comment on specific matters. In addressing student conduct, school officials follow the guidelines explained within the Student Code of Conduct section of the Parent/Guardian and Student Handbook. All staff within the Sioux City Community School District are committed to monitoring student interactions during the school day to provide a safe and supportive learning environment.
