The Cubs front office evolution didn't stop at the hiring of Carter Hawkins as general manager.
The Cubs announced Monday they've hired Astros executive Ehsan Bokhari as assistant general manager.
Bokhari, 38, joins the Cubs after three seasons in Houston's front office, where he contributed to amateur, professional and international player development.
NBC Sports
Houston hired Bokhari as director of research and development in November 2018. He took over as senior director of player evaluation ahead of the 2020 season, and in 2021 was senior director of strategic decision making.
Prior to joining the Astros, Bokhari spent four seasons with the Dodgers as a senior analyst in Los Angeles' R&D department (2015-18).
He received a PhD in quantitative psychology in 2014 and a masters in statistics in 2011 from the University of Illinois.
The hiring is the latest by Jed Hoyer, who's finally putting together his front office nearly a year after taking over as team president.
The front office has experienced some turnover in recent weeks, outside of the hirings of Hawkins and Bokhari.
Longtime assistant GM Randy Bush resigned this month, taking on an advisory role.
Jason McLeod, who joined the front office with Hoyer and former team president Theo Epstein a decade ago, has informed the organization he's leaving to pursue other opportunities.
McLeod's contract expires at the end of the month.
