CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The warm temperatures stuck around today with upper 80s and lower 90s. This will not last that long as we have a strong cold front moving through this weekend. Until then, we are still stuck with very dry conditions around the state. Because of that, we have red flag warnings throughout much of the state as well as air quality warnings in the central regions affected by the smoke.
Our smoke forecast has much of it moving out as the front makes it’s way down. The southern side of Wyoming will see an increase in smoke cover tomorrow, but then it’ll be pushed out. It may be enough smoke for the National Weather Service to issue air quality warnings. Oddly enough, the cold front won’t be bringing a lot of moisture with it. Some clouds will be moving in, but it’s the mostly the strong westerly wind we will see before it moves through.
Not a whole lot is expected in terms of storms for tomorrow. The Storm Prediction Center does have a Marginal risk for severe weather in the southeastern corner but the models are showing very little precipitation. However, I cannot rule out the chance for gusty winds and even some small hail with these storms if they form. Overnight, we can see cooler temperatures thanks to this cold front. Lows around the state will be mostly in the 40s with some lower 50s in the southeast and some upper 30s in the northwest. While these temperatures are more seasonable, our temperatures over the past week have been all over the place. Tomorrow, the temperatures in the northern cities will be in the 60s and 70s while the southern cities can see the lower 80s. This, unfortunately, will only last this weekend as we begin warming back up going into the beginning of next work week.
