Syracuse, N.Y. — Helio Health employees gave emergency care to a man with knife wounds in front of their James Street building Tuesday, according to a news release issued by the agency.
An altercation between two unknown people occurred just before 7 p.m. in front of Willows Inpatient Rehabilitation at 847 James St., according to the release. The agency said no patients or staff members were missing at the time.
The 25-year-old man was stabbed several times in the legs, Syracuse police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Malinowski said.
Staff became aware of the injured man in front of the building when a man began banging on the doors of the facility, according to the release.
The staff called 911 and began giving the man emergency medical care until first responders arrived, according to the release.
Syracuse police responded to the stabbing at about 7:35 p.m., Malinowski said.
The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital, and is in critical condition, Malinowski said.
Malinowski said officers found the person believed to have stabbed the man.
The man’s identity was not immediately released by police.
Police ask anyone with information about the stabbing to call the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-5222.
