MT led the game 2-0 as play was suspended heading into the top of the fourth inning. Because only three innings were complete, the game will not be counted as an official game.
Freshman Carter Edge roped a leadoff double down the line in left field for his first career hit in his first at-bat of the game in the top of the second inning, starting a rally in which fellow freshman Bryce Symlar and Briggs Rutter both picked up RBIs on a pair of sacrifice flies to give Middle Tennessee an early 2-0 advantage.
Freshman pitcher Jaden Hamm made his first career start, pitching all 3.0 innings and racking up three strikeouts. The Columbia native escaped a bases loaded jam in the first inning and left a man on third in the second before retiring the Racers in order in the third.
Middle Tennessee will now begin preparation for the Conference USA Tournament. The Blue Raiders first matchup is with #22 Charlotte on May 26 at 12:30 p.m.
