BOCA RATON, Fla. — Offense was abundant in game two of the series for Middle Tennessee at Florida Atlantic, but the Blue Raiders (22-20, 8-7) dropped a pitcher's duel in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader against the Owls (11-27, 6-9).

» The Owls took game one by opening up with a three-run first inning and silencing the Blue Raider bats for a 4-0 final score.
» It was MT's turn to strike first on Saturday afternoon, as leadoff walks by Summer Burgess and Kelci Hill proved detrimental to FAU's defensive efforts.
» Makenzie Hutchinson singled home Burgess, then Lexi Cushing's sacrifice fly scored Hill, and the Blue Raiders took a 2-0 lead after one frame.
» For the third game in a row, Ryan King threw out a runner on the basepaths. The first inning throw down was King's 11th of the season, tying the 2019 season for the most in her career.
» MT's offense cranked up the heat in the third inning, scoring four runs with two outs. After Hill led off with a single and Hutchinson reached on a fielder's choice, Jocelynn De La Cruz moved the two runners to second and third.
» Cushing then picked up her second RBI of the game, scoring Hill on the groundout. Lani Rodriguez followed with her first triple of the season and second career three-bagger to score Hutchinson. Amaya Harris drove in Rodriguez in the ensuing at bat with a single to left center.
» King hit MT's second triple of the inning and the first of her career to score Harris and make it a 6-0 score.
» Game two in the series between the Blue Raiders and Owls is the first game MT has hit two triples since April 7, 2015 vs. Tennessee State. It's just the second time in the Breeden era and 12th game in program history with multiple triples.
» The Owls couldn't be kept off the scoreboard, though, as they scored an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth to cut into the Blue Raider lead.
» Amber Baldwin and the MT defense kept Florida Atlantic from adding any more to its total, and the Blue Raiders finished off a 6-1 win to tie the series.
» Saturday's first game marked eight complete games for Baldwin this season, the most in a single season throughout her career, and the victory was her third start this season without an earned run allowed.

» Baldwin was called upon to start game two and kept the Owls from scoring until a two-run home run in the third inning.
» Meanwhile, FAU pitching faced the minimum through five frames.
» Kailey Ahlstrom entered in relief during the fourth inning after the Owls got their first two batters in the inning on base. Ahlstrom forced a double play, executed perfectly at second base by Rodriguez, then struck out an FAU batter to shut down the Owl threat.
» Ahlstrom pitched a perfect fifth inning and collected her second strikeout of the day in the process.
» King entered the sixth as the only Blue Raider with a hit in game two of the day and singled to right center for her sixth multi-hit game of the season. Claire Smith followed that up with a single of her own, and suddenly MT had two on with one out and the top of the lineup due up.
» Hill reached on a fielder's choice, and pinch runner Savannah Freeman scored the first Blue Raider run of the game. It was the only run MT would get, however, as the Owls took a 2-1 series lead with a victory in game two.
