Denver will begin the week near 80 degrees with sun and 25 mph wind gusts, according to the National Weather Service.
Winds will persist into the evening while a cold front works across the region, dropping Denver to 44 degrees overnight. Monday could be Denver’s fourth day above 80 degrees this year, with 81 being the hottest thus far in 2021.
Eastern Colorado will have bad fire conditions as winds could gust near 50 mph over areas that have received little precipitation, the weather service said. Forecasters strongly discouraged any open burning, discarding of cigarettes, or operating machinery outdoors that might emit sparks in the eastern part of the state Monday.
It will be very dry & windy today. Over eastern Colorado where less precipitation has fallen & green-up hasn't occurred, critical fire weather conditions will prevail. #cowx pic.twitter.com/vmgE8OB7w2
