» FAU took a 2-1 lead in the series after the Blue Raiders and Owls split Saturday's doubleheader.
» Summer Burgess and Kelci Hill started the game with a pair of bunt singles and were moved to second and third on a sacrifice bunt by Makenzie Hutchinson, but they were stranded in scoring position as the first frame ended.
» The Owls followed the Blue Raider threat with one of their own to start game four between the two teams. FAU advanced two to scoring position, but MT starting pitcher Corrina Dodd struck out a batter to end the inning.
» MT finally broke through first in the third inning as Claire Smith singled and came around to score on an RBI single up the middle by Hutchinson. Hill then scored later in the inning as Lexi Cushing picked up the RBI.
» Florida Atlantic bounced back for a run of its own in the bottom of the third, but Kailey Ahlstrom entered in relief to keep the Owls from tying the game.
» MT kept its foot on the gas for the fourth inning, when Ryan King walked and was replaced on the basepaths by Savannah Freeman, who scored on Smith's second hit of the game. Smith scored her second run of the game when Hill hit her second triple of the season.
» Amaya Harris doubled in MT's fifth inning turn, but the Blue Raiders were kept from extending their lead.
» Florida Atlantic plated an unearned run in the sixth to make it 4-2, causing Amber Baldwin to enter the circle in a save opportunity for the first time this season.
» Baldwin finished off her second career save, and the Blue Raiders earned a split of the series at FAU.
» Smith's two runs scored marks the second time this season she has touched home plate twice.
» Sunday's game is the fifth time this season Hill has posted three base knocks.
» With the win on Sunday, Dodd moved to 8-4 on the year.

» Head Coach Jeff Breeden on the standouts in the series split at FAU: "Our pitching was good all weekend. Claire Smith had a big day for us today. The difference in our offense today was the short game success and timely hits. [Makenzie] Hutchinson was clutch for us all weekend at the plate. Also Ryan [King] played well both on offense and throwing out potential base-stealers as well."
» Breeden on what his team needs to do to be ready for the C-USA tournament: "Our pitching needs to stay on the course they're on, and we need to play defense like we have been the past three weeks. Timely hitting will continue to be a key down the stretch. We're glad to be coming home for the final regular season series."
» Outfielder Claire Smith on the lineup switch to the nine-spot: "Moving down to the nine-hole definitely changed my approach at the plate. At the nine-hole, I was really focusing on getting on base any way I can for Summer [Burgess] and Kelci [Hill] to have a chance of driving me in or moving me over into scoring position."
» Smith on what her team needs to do to be ready for the C-USA tournament: "I think we need to continue what we are doing: playing as a team in all aspects of the game. We also have a great opportunity to continue hitting and grow our confidence at the plate."
