Middle Tennessee scored six runs in the eighth inning to pull away for an 8-2 baseball victory over South Alabama on Saturday at Stanky Field.
The loss drops the Jaguars to 6-4 this season and evens the series at one game each. The series finale is at 1 p.m. Sunday.

South Alabama led 2-1 after six innings on the strength of Hunter Stokes’ two-run homer, but got nothing more against three Middle Tennessee pitchers. The Jaguars had nine hits and 13 baserunners total, but left nine men on base.
The Blue Raiders (6-3) tied the game at 2-2 when Jake Hagenow led off the top of the seventh with a solo homer vs. Jaguars starter Tyler Lehrmann, who allowed two runs on four hits with six strikeouts and three walks in six-plus innings.
South Alabama reliever Andy Arguelles (0-2) got through the remainder of the seventh, but put the first two runners on in the eighth via a single and a walk. Tyler Samaniego came on at that point, but walked the first two hitters he faced to put the Blue Raiders on top 3-2.
Hagenow then delivered a two-run double to make it 5-2. After an error scored a sixth Middle Tennessee run, the Blue Raiders added two more on Fausto Lopez’s two run single vs. Collin Brougham.
David Zoz shut out South Alabama over the final two innings to back winning pitcher Adam Link (1-0), who pitched a scoreless seventh. Starter Peyton Wigginton allowed two runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts in five innings.
