ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team defeated the Indiana Hoosiers by a 3-1 (30-28, 20-25, 25-17, 25-19) score Saturday (March 13) inside Cliff Keen Arena. Sophomore May Pertofsky led U-M with 17 kills and six service aces, while freshman Jess Mruzik had 16 kills to seal a weekend sweep over the Hoosiers.
Michigan (4-3, 4-3 Big Ten) took a marathon first set by the score of 30-28, where both Mruzik (seven kills) and Pertofksy (six) led the U-M offense partnered with nine assists from freshman setter Scottee Johnson.
U-M dropped the second set as Indiana (3-14, 3-14 Big Ten) led by as many as five points in the middle of the set, but U-M rallied back to tie the stanza at 17 behind a pair of Mruzik kills. IU went on to close out the set with an 8-2 run and a 25-10 score.
Set three saw the Wolverines take control with a dominant 25-17 score keyed by a pair of aces from Pertofsky and a balanced attack effort. The fourth set rounded out the win but was closely contested as the tally was tied at 13 midway through. However, two more aces from Pertofsky and a kill from sophomore Jess Robinson made it 16-13 as the Wolverines coasted to the 25-19 set win to seal the match.
Pertofsky (.593), junior Kayla Bair (.625) and sophomore Jess Robinson (.500) reached the 50-percent mark in hitting percentage. Freshman libero Hannah Grant had 16 digs while Johnson led U-M with 46 assists.

Michigan will hit the road for two-match set against the Ohio State Buckeyes beginning on Friday (March 19) in Columbus. The matchup will commence at 6 p.m. from the Covelli Center.
