The director of Murder on Middle Beach has revealed there are "extremely illuminating" leads after the season 1 finale and also addressed the possibility of season 2.
The four-part HBO Max series, now available on Sky Crime and NOW TV in the UK, follows director Madison Hamburg as he investigates the unsolved murder of his own mother, Barbara Beach Hamburg, on March 3, 2010 on Middle Beach Road West in Connecticut.
Filmed over eight years, the season 1 finale saw Madison absolve his sister Ali of suspicion, while receiving a promising update about his own investigation.
And, it seems a second season could be on the cards.

Murder on Middle Beach's season 1 finale saw the Freedom of Information Commission rule to release case files related to Barbara's murder, which Madison had previously been unable to access.
The 1,600 relevant documents were only handed to Madison in October this year. Speaking recently in a case update for HBO, Madison confirmed he now has a "treasure trove of information" which throws the case "wide open".
He said that "there are a lot of leads that we have the ability to corroborate now.
"There's a lot more backstory to relationships between people in my life and transparency and clarity that I didn't have before that just opens this thing wide open.
"Now, there's this treasure trove of information."

He also told Esquire: "There have been corroborating leads, correcting things, things that we didn't know about.
"I can't get into details, but it's been extremely illuminating."
The comments come as Murder on Middle Beach fans clamour for more answers and a second season to divulge exactly what kind of information the case files provided Madison's team with.

While it may be "too early" to talk about season 2 just yet, Madison has confirmed his investigation into his mother's murder will definitely continue.
He told GQ: "It's too early to say whether or not something like [season 2] would happen, but I certainly am not going to stop looking into what happened to my mom."
