Drunken driving: State Road
On Nov. 25, police observed a driver nearly cause an accident when turning in front of another vehicle from Wallings Road onto State Road.
Once the officer turned on the squad car’s lights, the vehicle pulled into a parking lot. The driver immediately exited, walked to the front of the vehicle and started urinating on the pavement.
When told about the near car crash, the man said: “I’m sorry. I didn’t see it.”
When asked how much he had had to drink, the driver slurred, “I had about two, three beers.”
After failing a field sobriety test, during which he stepped off the line, the man was arrested for drunken driving.
Drunken driving: Royalton Road
On Nov. 21, police observed a green Ford Escape whose owner had a suspended license. The officer pulled over the Ford when it turned into an apartment complex.
While talking to the North Royalton resident, the officer smelled booze.
The man presented the officer with his driving privileges. While the driver was supposedly headed home from work, he had been drinking, which wasn’t allowed by the privileges.
He denied drinking, saying instead that someone had poured beer on him while he was working at a bar.
After failing a field sobriety test, during which he swayed, the man was arrested for drunken driving. During a search of the Ford, police found marijuana and cigarillos.
The resident was charged with drug abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.
Disorderly conduct: Royalton Road
On Nov. 20, police were dispatched to a Royalton Road bar regarding an intoxicated man who refused to leave. The staff had tried to call him an Uber, but that didn’t work.
An arriving officer located the drunk patron, who was mumbling and talking to himself while on the back patio.
When told he had to leave, the man repeatedly said, “I’m an American.” Since he wasn’t cooperating, the patron was arrested for disorderly conduct.
