CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Traditional students at West Creek Middle School will be transitioning to remote learning beginning Wednesday, Nov. 18.
The message, sent out to WCMS families by principal Damaris Last, said the move was caused by staffing issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Please know that I understand a change like this presents challenges for families. We must all work together during this pandemic to keep our children and employees safe,” Last said in the message.
“I ask parents and guardians to please ensure that you support us by not sending your children to school or any other activities if they are sick, exhibiting symptoms, awaiting COVID-19 test results, and most importantly if they are quarantined or are known to be positive for the virus, even if they don’t have symptoms,” Last continued.
All traditional students across the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System district will learn remotely Monday, Nov. 23, through Wednesday, Nov. 25, and Thanksgiving break will be next Thursday and Friday.
Other middle schools in the CMCSS district have closed their buildings for similar periods of time. Rossview Middle School was the first CMCSS school to close for an abbreviated amount of time back in October.
New Providence and Northeast middle schools also closed their buildings over the last month because of similar staffing issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to CMCSS’s COVID-19 dashboard, there are now only 766 students in quarantine. That number has dropped since it was reported Monday, Nov. 16, that there were 1,000 students quarantined.
As a reminder, families who need access to no-cost meals during this remote learning time may pick up weekend meals on Friday, Nov. 20, from 1-2 p.m. at any CMCSS elementary school.
