For the third time in less than a week, there have been COVID-19 cases at a Dare County public school requiring dozens of people to be quarantined.
In an email to families on Nov. 7, Schools Superintendent John Farrelly reported two new cases of COVID-19 at Manteo Middle School. As a result of contact tracing, the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services has identified 51 individuals who have begun quarantining. The school building will undergo a sanitizing and deep cleaning and is slated to re-open on Monday, Nov. 9.
Manteo High School was closed on Nov. 5 for cleaning and sanitizing after three cases of COVID-19 requiring 75 people to quarantine were reported there. First Flight High School was closed for the same reason on Nov. 6 after one case was reported, requiring 30 people to quarantine.
