A driver sustained life-threatening injuries when he was shot in the chest on a Clairemont street late Thursday, San Diego police said.
The 23-year-old motorist was driving west on Chateau Drive near Mt. Abernathy Avenue about 10:30 p.m. when he was shot, Officer Tony Martinez said.
After the man was wounded, his vehicle crashed into an electrical box in front of San Diego Fire-Rescue station No. 36, Martinez said.
The victim was taken to a hospital.
Detectives are investigating the shooting, one of three in the city Thursday. The others were in Mount Hope and Gaslamp Quarter. Police said there is no indication the shootings are related.
