A man armed with a handgun carjacked a man as he was unloading his pickup in front of a a Spring Valley apartment complex early Sunday, officials said.
The incident happened around 7 a.m. in front of a complex on Jamacha Boulevard near Calavo Drive, county Sheriff’s Lt. William Amavisca said.
The victim was taking things out of his parked 2015 Toyota Tundra when the suspect, a man believed to be in his mid-20s, approached him, Amavisca said. The thief pointed a small, black handgun at the victim and demanded the truck.
The victim backed away and the suspect drove off in the truck. The victim was not injured.
Sheriff’s officials did not release a detailed description of the carjacker. No other information was immediately available.
