High temperatures today will reach triple digits in most locations, with a forecast high in Houston of 102 degrees. When factoring in the humidity we are likely dealing with a peak heat index value of around 108-112 degrees, and because of that the heat advisory has been extended through 7pm today.
Late this afternoon and in to the evening things get a bit more interesting, especially for our more northern viewers. A weak disturbance is expected to move into our region Sunday night from the north, gradually dissipating as it moves south. This disturbance will cause some thunderstorm development for at least our northern counties, and could potentially bring storms to the I-10 corridor as well. An isolated severe storm cannot be ruled out... the main threat would most likely be damaging wind gusts.
Changes come Monday as a weak cool front moves through the area. This front will bring in a chance for scattered rain and will also drop temperatures slightly... back down into the mid 90s (our average for this time of year).
Behind the front, we are expecting some lower humidity values which will make things feel a bit better outdoors, especially in the late evenings and early mornings.
