A Rutherford County Schools teacher was arrested over the weekend after police say he was touching his genitals while in Walmart.
Murfreesboro police charged Matthew Benton Carr, 31, with indecent exposure after they say he was caught by store loss prevention exposing himself inappropriately while in the Walmart on South Rutherford Boulevard over the weekend. The act was captured on surveillance footage, the court filing shows.
According to the criminal complaint, Carr was making lewd gestures and acts. When questioned by police, he admitted to touching his genitals after he got "an itch."

Carr was hired at Rockvale Middle School as a 7th grade science teacher, the online directory shows.
A school system spokesman confirmed that he was employed by the school and had recently been hired. He had not yet started his assignment when the school system learned of his arrest.
Carr was suspended without pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation by RCS.
The complaint shows Carr is banned indefinitely from the Murfreesboro Walmart and was told to never return to any of the stores.
