The DSISD board of trustees approved the $1.715 million purchase of the Headwaters land months ago at a January meeting, and said it was intended for unspecified "future school and school-related facilities." Freehold confirmed in its release that an elementary school and middle school would be built on the site.
"New schools within a highly rated district will greatly benefit our current and future residents and Dripping Springs as a whole," Freehold Texas Division President Matt Matthews said in the release.
According to communications from DSISD in August 2019, when the district first adopted a resolution to purchase the property, the district and Freehold will share the cost for infrastructure and utility improvements needed to support schools on the property.
