The Vikings announced Monday that TCO Performance Center has been reopened to approximately 60 front office employees. It’s unclear when coach Mike Zimmer and the rest of his coaching staff will return.
Currently, players and coaches continue to work remotely, according to a team release. While the NFL has granted coaches permission to return to team facilities, there’s been no guidance as far as when players can come back.
The Associated Press reported Monday that the NFL and the players union sent the league’s 32 teams a plan outlining procedures for the full reopening of their practice facilities, closed because of the coronavirus pandemic in March.
According to the AP, the plan, written by Commissioner Roger Goodell and approved by the NFL Players Association, described protocols focusing on screening, testing, infection prevention and treatment for COVID-19.
Those returning are doing so on a voluntary basis, with multiple departments within the organization prioritized because of their need to access the facility in order to effectively complete their job duties.
All returning employees have completed a training course and health survey. Upon arrival at the facility, each employee will undergo a screening protocol that includes a temperature check and will wear masks when they are not in their private offices.
The Vikings have established an Infection Response Team and implemented measures inside the facility to ensure proper distancing, including the closure of conference rooms and staggered work shifts.
