Summer heat to return as warm front approaches, pushes through - CBS 3 Duluth

worldinmiddleeast.blogspot.com

TODAY: A warm front will be tracking towards the Northland. We'll start the day with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies, but clouds will begin to increase in the afternoon as the warm front pushes through. An isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible, but chances remain at 20% or less. Winds trend S to SSE at 10-20 mph, but SE lakeside. Highs top out in the 70s to low 80s inland, but 60s lakeside.

TONIGHT: We'll see mostly cloudy skies and the breezy winds continuing. There's a chance of some showers and thunderstorms, but mostly across northern Minnesota. There's a marginal, level one risk for severe storms for Beltrami, Koochiching and northwestern Itasca counties. Hail and high winds would be the main threats. Winds trend S to SE at 5-15 mph. Lows drop back into the 50s and 60s.

TUESDAY: We'll start the day with some cloud cover and a few isolated showers and thunderstorms. Skies will become sunny to partly cloudy for the afternoon. Winds trend S at 10-20 mph. Highs soar into the 80s to even some low 90s, but cooler up the North Shore. Lows fall back into the 60s Tuesday night with a mainly clear sky and a S wind at 5-15 mph.

WEDNESDAY: The heat continues into Wednesday with sunny to mostly sunny skies. Clouds will begin to increase late in the day as a cold front approaches. Showers and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday night and some could turn strong to severe, especially west of an Ely to McGregor line. Winds remain S at 5-15 mph with higher gusts. Highs are once again in the 80s to low 90s. Lows fall back into the 60s to near 70. Dewpoints will start to climb as well, into the upper 50s to low 60s.

THURSDAY: The cold front will start to advance east throughout the day. We'll see mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. There's some model indifference on the timing, so I'm keeping chances at 40% for now, but early indications show late Thursday afternoon into Thursday night will be the best chance. Highs climb into the upper 70s to mid 80s. Lows fall back into the 50s and 60s.

WEEKEND: We'll see spotty chances of showers and thunderstorms over the weekend. There's a chance Friday morning and Saturday with a slight chance on Sunday. Highs are in the 70s and 80s Friday, but cooling back into the 60s and 70s for the weekend.
