West Columbia, SC -- Lexington Two has been informed about a case of COVID-19 at Northside Middle School and is sharing this information with the community out of an abundance of caution.
On June 7, 2020, an employee self-reported testing positive for COVID-19. This employee, like other Northside employees, worked in the building during the weeks of May 26 and June 1 to help coordinate and collect year-end materials. These employees were working on alternating days and schedules to help increase social distancing. Employees were asked to wear masks, with masks and gloves provided, and to practice social distancing while in the school. Members of the public were not allowed in the building during this time.
The employee is following appropriate guidelines published by the CDC and SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), including self-quarantining for the recommended 14 days. School and district staff members who may have come into contact with this employee have been notified so that they can take appropriate steps under CDC and DHEC guidelines as necessary.
The district’s custodial and maintenance staff are performing a deep cleaning at the school.
Lexington Two continues to work to ensure the safety of our employees and students during this unprecedented time.
