Dist. 57 Community Forum To Address Survey Results, Lincoln Middle School - Journal & Topics Newspapers Online

Mount Prospect Elementary School Dist. 57 board members and administrators will host their next Community Forum from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5 in the Lincoln Middle School Learning Resource Center, 700 W. Lincoln St.

The forum will explore results of the satisfaction survey given to community members in the fall, including questions related to the aging Lincoln building. There will also be a brief Lincoln walk-through.

The school board periodically invites the public to participate in discussions about important and timely issues. At the March 5 Forum, residents will be able to learn more about the topics raised in the recent survey and share their feedback.

The Dist. 57 satisfaction survey was administered this past October, with school parents and non-parents participating online or with paper. Responses were received from 1,257 residents. 

Highlights, according to district officials, include:

  • overall, 91% of parents are very satisfied or satisfied with Dist. 57;
  • when asked whether they would recommend the district to a friend moving into the area, staff agreement was at 4.33, parent agreement was at 4.44 and non-parent/non-staff agreement was at 4.26 (with ratings ranging from 5 for strongly agree to 1 for strongly disagree);
  • 67% of parents rate Dist. 57 much better or a little better than neighboring districts;
  • 84% of parents say the frequency of district communication is just right, 86% of parents rate the content of communication as very effective or somewhat effective;
  • 41% of parents support the district exploring the option of building a new middle school (25% non-parents and 48% staff), 16% of parents support addressing maintenance and renovating the existing Lincoln Middle School (25% non-parents and 23% staff), 21% of parents support either option (15% non-parents and 14% staff), and 22% of parents are not sure/need more information (35% non-parents and 15% staff).
