Edmunds Middle School will raise the flag at 1 p.m. Board members unanimously passed a proposal that calls for the flag to be flown during Black History Month and staying up until summer vacation.
Students say they are doing it because of the "systemic racial injustice that plagues American public schools."
Students of color make up 28 percent of the Edmunds Middle School community.
The school is one of several around the state to raise the flag in recent years, including Burlington, CVU, Rutland, and Montpelier High Schools.
