MERRILL (WAOW)-- Prairie River Middle School seeks to open a dialogue with community members about bullying.
The 'Bullying … How Do We Prevent It?' Forum will feature school officials, law enforcement, North Central Health care employees and representatives form Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of Northcentral Wisconsin will be present.
The main theme of the forum is communication for parents as well as the professionals speaking. Community members in attendance will be able to ask questions during the forum and receive feedback.
School officials also want to better define what bullying is and how it differs from student to student conflict.
"Making sure people are clear, what it means, what do we do, how to react to it as a building and as a staff. Part of conflict is part of life," said Ryan Martinovici, principal at Prairie River Middle School.
Officials also say it's important for parents to display behavior they'd like mimicked by their children, as kids are often master imitators.
"It is one of my pet peeves. I don't want to kids coming to school worrying about how someone is going to treat them. That should be the least of their worries; they should be coming here to… learn reading, science, math, all the subjects and have fun while doing it," said Martinovici.
The forum is taking place Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Prairie River Middle School Auditorium.
Those attending are asked to use doors numbered 16 and 22.
