ROCKFORD (WREX) — Parent University at Lincoln Middle School allowed parents the opportunity to interact with their children's school and learn about community resources.
Lincoln Middle School hosted its first-ever Parent University event on Saturday.
The event brought the community, parents and educators together to teach community members about resources from healthcare to career education.
Parents could choose from a variety of different break-out sessions and talks with school staff and community organizations to learn about tax prep, mental health, and grad-by-grade expectations.
One parent says learning about these resourceful tools can help families grow in the right direction.
"As a parent, you aren't going to be with your child the whole day," says Tiffany Scott. "But as a parent, you want to make sure you equip your child with the resources that will help gain them success. So I am very adamant about my children having and knowing what resources are out there."
Organizers of the event say they hope to host the event at least once per school year.
