The United States announced its withdrawal from a 1955 treaty with Iran in response to an International Court of Justice determination that some U.S. sanctions against Tehran violate the pact. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Wednesday the U.S. is terminating the Treaty of Amity after the United Nations' top court ordered the lifting of sanctions that affect humanitarian goods. VOA's Zlatica Hoke reports the U.S also announced withdrawal from another international protocol Wednesday.
