Wichita police continue investigation into possible school threat - KWCH

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update: The Wichita Police Department said Thursday a social media threat was not directed toward a Wichita middle school.

Hadley Middle School students reported seeing a post on Instagram that appeared to show someone holding a gun in what appeared to be a bathroom. The Instagram account also had posted threats, which prompted students to inform a teacher who called 911.

Officers responded, and investigated the post and the threats. It was later determined that the photo was not taken at Hadley Middle School.

WPD said the investigation into the threats made on social media is ongoing.

Hadley Middle School in Wichita was locked down Thursday morning following a possible school threat.

A spokesperson for USD 259 said the threat was posted on Instagram mentioned a school named Hadley but did not specify whether it was Hadley Middle School in Wichita.

The district said as a precaution, officers from the Wichita Police Department will be at the school throughout the day.
