The Eastern U.S. will find some unusually warm temperatures leading into the weekend. But don’t get too used to this mid October warmth, because a strong fall front will drop in more typical air to be found for this time of the year for the weekend.
Before the front, a strong bubble of high pressure will allow temperatures to warm well above seasonal averages.
Highs on Thursday and Friday will reach on the order of 10 degrees above average for many cities and towns through the end of the week and into the first half of the weekend.
We will see widespread temperatures about 5-15° above average for much of the eastern United States.
Each dot represents a city where the air temperature will come close to, meet, or exceed the current record high temperature from Thursday to Friday.
Here are a couple of lists showing some notable cities where records could fall.
A strong fall front will put an end to the record warmth and drop in cooler air. Some cities could recognize drops over 15 degrees in forecast high temperatures from one day to the next.
