In his press conference ahead of Sunday’s game against Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp made an important clarification - he does not want to be the next James Bond.
“I’m happy watching him [Daniel Craig] do what he’s doing. I was lucky enough to meet him on two occasions. I will miss him. I’ve followed it [James Bond series] since Sean Connery and Roger Moore. It’s a great story. But I would be a really bad James Bond because if I walk out of the water in swim shorts, the world would switch off.”
Well, okay then. Onto other important things.
On Manchester City:
“For me, still, they are probably the best team in Europe... That’s the team we will face. To win the game we have to score goals but we have to defend on our highest level to ensure the goals we score make the difference.”
On how the Liverpool squad should approach the game:
“You have to be brave, front-footed, cheeky in moments - your best version - and then you’ll have a chance... It’s a complex football challenge but thank god for both teams & that’s what makes it so exciting.”
On his right-back options now that Trent Alexander-Arnold is ruled out:
“We have James Milner, Joe Gomez, Neco Williams. We could change system. There are quite a few things [to consider]... but whoever plays there should be protected by at least two players.”
On the passing of Roger Hunt:
“What I like about this club is that it’s really good in remembering their legends and I really like that. Roger Hunt, in his time, was for sure one of the most influential in the country and maybe Europe. I didn’t meet him in-person... but we will miss him.”
