Host Butler leads the field at 584, followed by Austin Peay (587), Belmont (587) and Bellarmine (594). Austin Peay's Erica Scott leads the field at 1-over 141 and two others are tied for second at 142. Amelie Svejda and Annaliese Fox paced the Jaguars at 149 on Monday.
"The course played long and the team struggled to score well on important holes," assistant coach Tavia Rutherford said. "I am proud of the way the team fought and never gave up throughout the round. Tomorrow, we will look to navigate the golf course more strategically and have better distance control with our putts in an effort to make a move up the leaderboard."
The morning round saw IUPUI struggle to score as the Jaguars came in at 300. Fox was a bright spot at 2-over 72 and Svejda shook off a rough start to close at 4-over 74. Both Nerea Lancho and Shelby Busker had countable rounds of 77 and Kara Blair shot 79.
Keisha Bennett posted an 80 while playing as an individual and Ally Stuckey closed at 82.
While the afternoon round was only a two shot improvement, it was easily a more quality round from top to bottom. Blair checked in at 2-over 72 and Busker shot 4-over 74. Svejda posted a 5-over 75 and Fox and Lancho both finished at 77.
Bennett carded an 82 and Stuckey shot 87.
IUPUI ranked third amongst the field with 15 birdies with Fox making five. Busker had a team-high 25 pars and Blair made 24.
IUPUI will be paired with Indiana State and Bellarmine and begin play at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
