Coming into the match, star forward Peyton DePriest's school record of 49 goals had her tied for the lead for most career goals scored in Conference USA women's soccer history.
However, a game tying goal with 16 seconds left in the game led to the eventual game-winner in overtime by the Evansville Purple Aces, who handed Middle Tennessee its' first home loss of the season; 3-2.
"I think we performed well," said Middle Tennessee Head Coach Aston Rhoden. "We were able to come back from a goal down to tie it and scored late to take the lead. It shows a lot about our character. The late goals we allowed showed some of our lack of experience. We're a young team, and that showed today."
Evansville took advantage of its' second corner-kick of the match by netting the games' first goal on a header into the corner of the net by sophomore Monique Landrum.
Though it didn't score in the first half, Middle Tennessee spent a lot of time in the Purple Aces zone throughout the entire game, totaling 26 shots with six of which being on-net.
In the second half, the Blue Raiders stormed ahead thanks to a pair of goals from their two freshman from Denmark.
In the 34th minute, Middle Tennessee tied the game on a corner kick of its' own when freshman Sascha Nielsen scored her first career goal on an assist from Sam DeBien off of a set play out of the corner.

Following an Evansville yellow card in the 85', Middle Tennessee was able to get the late go-ahead goal from Nielsen's fellow native of Denmark, Kirstine Lykke.

"It was good seeing (Lykke and Nielsen) score," Rhoden said. "When you have a young striker like Kirsten (Lykke), it's always good to get her off the mark. Sascha (Nielsen) being a defender rarely ever gets the chance to go up and score goals, so it was good to see both of them contribute toward their team's success."
A third freshman made her mark on the afternoon as goalkeeper Talia Nowlan made her first career start, seeing 10 total shots with seven on goal. The Florida native made four total saves.
With just 16 seconds left in regulation, Evansville's Emily Olson tied the game at 2-2 off of an Evansville corner kick and in overtime Olson scored her second goal of the match off a corner kick that went untouched into the back of the net.
