OAKRIDGE, Ore. – Several fires are burning in the Middle Fork Ranger District, sparking evacuation notices.
The Middle Fork Complex has burned more than 3,300 acres and is 10% contained, as of Friday. Five structures are threatened at this time.
Some of the fires are near Fall Creek and the Kwis Fire is the fire burning closest to Oakridge.
Firefighters have contained several of the fires. The Symbol Rock, Devil’s Canyon, Larison Cove, Way, Warble and Journey fires continue to be patrolled. Meanwhile, crews are mopping up the Packard and Windfall Fires.
In total, roughly 600 people are helping with the firefighting efforts, and crews are using several aircraft and dozers and dozens of engines. At least two people have been injured.
The US Forest Service says the fires started July 29 after lightning strikes in the area.
EVACUATIONS
LEVEL 3 GO
- All homes, campgrounds and dispersed recreation sites along Forest Service Road 18 (Big Fall Creek Road) east of the intersection with Forest Service Road 1821, including Puma Campground and Bedrock Campground.
Level 3 Go means residents should leave immediately as danger is imminent.
CLOSURES
Several forest roads, campgrounds, trails and more and closed in the fire area due to the fires. Among the closed campgorunds are Dolly Varden, Big Pool, Broken Bowl, Clark Creek, Bedrock and Puma. The Little Cowhorn Lookout, Timber Butte Lookout, and Saddle Blanket Mountain area is also closed.
