Earlier this month, GM Authority reported that the 2022 Chevy Equinox Premier will offer Automatic Parking Assist, which aids drivers in parallel and perpendicular parking their vehicle. The new-for-Equinox feature will be offered as part of the Driver Confidence III package. Now, GMA has learned that the 2022 Equinox will also offer Front and Rear Park assist as well.
For those not familiar with the feature, Front and Rear Park Assist (RPO code UD5) is a General Motors active safety technology that helps drivers avoid low-speed collisions while parking. The feature is activate at speeds below five miles per hour (eight kilometers per hour) and provides object location and distance-to-object alerts using four ultrasonic sensors mounted on both the front and rear bumpers. The front sensors operate at a range of up to four feet (1.3 meters) while the rear sensors reach up to eight feet (2.4 meters). The array of sensors is capable of detecting objects up to 10 inches (25 centimeters) above ground level.
The third-generation Equinox has always offered Rear Park Assist since its introduction for the 2018 model year, but the addition of the front sensors makes the 2022 Chevy Equinox easier than ever to park.
From an availability standpoint, Front and Rear Park Assist is standard on the 2FL equipment group (which is a breakout of the LT trim), RS and Premier trim levels. Additionally, it’s standard on the and optional on the 1LT equipment group via the Driver Confidence II Package. The feature is not available on the base LS model.
Meanwhile, Rear Park Assist is available as standard only on the 1FL equipment group of the LS trim.

The 2022 Chevy Equinox receives a refresh, otherwise known as an update or mid-cycle enhancement (MCE), consisting of new front and rear fascias, minor updates to the interior, plus the addition of the new RS trim level and deletion of the L trim. The updated compact crossover also drop four exterior paint colors, including Pacific Blue Metallic, Nightfall Gray Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, and Cajun Red Tintcoat. Four new exterior colors join the color palette, including Blue Glow Metallic, Seaglass Blue Metallic, Cherry Red Tintcoat, and Iron Gray Metallic.
2022 Chevy Equinox production takes place at the Ramos Arizpe Plant in Mexico and at the GM CAMI plant in Canada.
