Forest Glen Middle School, Home of the Wildcats, is getting ready for the 2021-2022 academic year with a new leader at its helm.
Melissa Gurreonero has stepped into the former principal’s job following Ronald Forsman’s retirement, saying she is fully committed to continuing his legacy.
“I can guarantee you that in August, everyone will be met back on our campus by a principal committed to maintaining a safe, secure, innovative, and engaging environment for all,” Gurreonero wrote in an outgoing message to Forest Glen families.
On Tuesday, July 27, the new principal will hold a live meet-and-greet session.
Gurreonero said the event not only allows her to introduce herself to new and returning students but gives her the chance to review the ABCs: attitude, belief in giving one’s best, and facing challenges together.
“It’s simple,” said Gurreonero, “our plan is to focus our energies this school year into accepting that we have lost a year of normalcy but will shift to a mindset of meeting each other where we are.”
She added she and her administrative team just announced the first day of registration for the Wildcat Academy or Camp Wildcat for short.
Intended for incoming sixth and seventh graders, the camp takes place Friday, August 13, and costs $10 to attend. Registration must be completed online before August 6. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Forest Glen will welcome sixth-graders and seventh-graders from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Forest Glen Middle School is located at 6501 Turtle Run Boulevard.
