Fox News can’t tell you the truth about Jan. 6 Insurrection Day, so they’re desperately trying to gaslight the events of that infamous day. Like any good magician will tell you, it’s the sleight of hand that makes a magic trick work. Look at my left hand while my right hand brings forth the surprise. Republican propaganda is much the same.
We just passed the six-month anniversary of Insurrection Day, one of the worst days in American history where five people died and two Capitol Police officers subsequently committed suicide. Throngs of the former president’s supporters tried to overthrow democracy and end our country as we know it. Just think, we could have installed a king for life along with his royal family. No wait, that’s why we formed the United States of America — freedom from a royal monarchy and tyranny.
It was tragic that QAnon believer Ashli Babbitt was shot and killed by Capitol police as she attempted to jump through a broken window into the Speaker’s Lobby, where on the other side law enforcement officers had their guns drawn. Ask anyone in law enforcement what happens when they have their guns drawn and command, “Don’t do X or I’ll shoot!” They shoot. The real question we should be asking is not who shot Ashli Babbitt — we already know the answer to that, but rather why was Ashli Babbitt there in D.C. on Jan. 6? Why did Ashli Babbitt break into the Capitol Building? Why did Ashli Babbitt ignore law enforcement officers with their guns pointed at her?
Republicans can’t talk truth about the January 6 Insurrection as that leads to the former dude and his 147 seditious members of Congress who voted against certifying Joe Biden’s Presidential election. At first, Fox News blamed the Jan. 6 Insurrection on Antifa. When America got done laughing at that, the new excuse was BLM (Black Lives Matter). America laughed even harder as you could count the insurrectionists of color on one hand that fateful day. Then Tucker came out and said he had irrefutable proof that the FBI was behind the Jan. 6 Insurrection. Of course, like everything else with Tucker, we never saw that proof. We just rolled our eyes at this lame excuse. So now they’re saying, “That was in the past. It’s not my fault. We’re moving on.” Let me know how well that excuse works when your wife discovers your affair. I recommend hiding the kitchen knives and scissors if she finds out.
We all know who was behind the Jan. 6 Insurrection. Let’s see, who was saying since Election Night 2020 that he won the election that he lost by over seven million votes? Who said multiple times per day, “This election was rigged!” Who promoted the Big Lie of “Stop the Steal!”? Who filed 60 post-election lawsuits, losing 59 of them? Who said during his January 6 speech at the Ellipse, “After this we’re gonna walk down and I’ll be with you … to the Capitol … Because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong.”
The New York Times just released the most comprehensive video I’ve seen (https://youtu.be/jWJVMoe7OY0) of the Insurrection: “Day of Rage: How Trump Supporters Took the U.S. Capitol”. It’s graphic, it’s brutal and it’s primarily angry, violent white guys wearing MAGA or military gear.
So now Fox News has come out with the latest excuse, Don’t look here. Look over there! Multiple times per day they’re asking, “Who shot Ashli Babbitt?” Why? To distract you from the truth. Congressman Paul Gosar claims the government is covering up who shot Ashli Babbitt. We already know who did. The officer was investigated and found to be a justified shooting. The former President said the officer who shot Ashli Babbitt should be hanged. A little over the top, but hey, when you’re desperate for publicity … .
The sad truth we should be asking is why was Ashli Babbitt a rabid supporter of a pathological liar (the former President)? Why was Ashli Babbitt a cult follower of QAnon, an anonymous online charlatan who makes bold false predictions, the last one posted Dec. 8, 2020? Why did Ashli Babbitt and tens of thousands of Cult 45 groupies go to Washington D.C. to “Stop the Steal”? Until we answer these questions, Ashli Babbitt will be the first of many tragic deaths brought on by the biggest con from the biggest con man in U.S. history.
