The Fulton Hornets came away with nine first-place finishes Saturday to win the team title in the North Central Missouri Conference middle school championships at Robert E. Fisher Stadium.
The Fulton boys tallied 163 points, just three more than runner-up Hannibal.
Gabriel DeFily won all four of his events for the Hornets. On the track, DeFily won the boys 100-meter dash in 12.02 seconds and took home the title in the 200-meter dash in 25.60 seconds. In the field events, DeFily won the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 2 inches, and also finished first in the triple jump with a distance of 35-10.
In other individual events, Will Yates won the pole vault with a height of 8-0.25, Adrian Lozano won the 400-meter dash in 58.30 seconds and Noah Thompson placed first in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:19.17.
The Fulton boys also won a pair of relay events. Lozano, Robert Monroe, Thompson and Aiden Fleetwood won the 4x400 in 4:08.12, while Thompson, Lozano, Luke Holland and Monroe won the 4x800 in 9:38.18.
Ethan Milius finished runner-up for the Hornets in all four of his events: the long jump (16-10.5), the 100 (12.07 seconds), the 200 (26.42 seconds) and the 4x100-meter relay (52.95 seconds).
The Fulton girls placed fourth as a team with 59.5 points. Hannibal won the conference championship with 155 points and Moberly was second with 135.
The Lady Hornets had a pair of conference champions. Cai'ra Simmons took first in the girls shot put with a throw of 33-8.75 and Lily Hall won the discus with a toss of 70-8.5.
