South Sioux City Middle Schoolers learn math in a hands-on way - KTIV

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) - Some students at South Sioux City Middle School got some hands-on learning with one of their latest projects.

Eighth-grade algebra students put math into practice by building catapults.

Students tested out their catapults Wednesday to get data that helped them write quadratic functions.

One student said it was a fun way to learn.

"It takes it so where you're just not looking at a paper and looking at the numbers. It's like, oh yeah, I'm launching a ping pong ball or a marshmallow or whatever and seeing where the numbers relate that way," Paige Myers, 8th Grade.

The 8th graders will compile all their information from the project at the end and present their findings to the class.
