Some South Butler County School District students will attend school virtually next week following a recommendation by administrators concerning COVID-19 cases.
Superintendent Dr. David Foley informed the school board about three recent positive COVID test results in the Middle School. One more positive test there would force the district into a state-mandated closure of that facility for at least one day.
Since PSSA testing is planned to begin this upcoming Tuesday, Foley asked the board for approval for a preemptive shut down with Middle School students attending virtually on Monday. Board members expressed agreement for this idea so as not to risk disrupting the important testing process.
If another positive test for a Middle School student is reported Thursday, the district will begin virtual classes on Friday but that will not change the plans for Monday. More information and a COVID-19 Case Tracker can be found on the South Butler website.
