HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Another temperature jump is anticipated on Monday as highs reach the mid to upper 70s and lower 80s. We’ll enjoy mainly sunny skies. Winds will be fairly strong for the eastern two-thirds of the area. The strongest winds will be in Eastern Nebraska. They’ll be out of the south southwest at 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Later this afternoon into the evening, a fast-moving cold front will move through from northwest to southeast. Behind that cold front, winds will become north northwesterly and will be very strong. Sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph will be possible. Western parts of the Local4 viewing area may see wind gusts over 55 mph. Due to the strong winds, both this afternoon and this evening, the fire risk will be at an elevated level across the area. A red flag warming will be in place during the afternoon and evening for all of the area. Along with some extra clouds, there will be a slight chance of light rain or sprinkles. If it’s cold enough, there could be some snowflakes, but little to no accumulation is anticipated. By Tuesday morning, temperatures will down into the 30s.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be cool days around the area. Highs on Tuesday will be in the mid to upper 40s and lower 50s. Winds will remain breezy out of the north northwest at 15 to 25 mph. Skies will be mostly cloudy in the morning with a little bit more sun later in the day. Low temperatures Tuesday night will fall well below freezing in the 20s. Highs on Wednesday will make it to the upper 40s and low to mid 50s. It’ll be mostly sunny and a little breezy. Lows Wednesday night will again drop into the mid to upper 20s.

Beyond Wednesday, warmer temperatures will be returning for the rest of the week into the weekend. Thursday’s highs will get to the upper 50s to upper 60s from east to west. Friday sees a return to the 70s along with some stronger winds. Saturday could be as warm as the upper 70s and lower 80s. Easter Sunday could get to the low to mid 80s. The warmth should continue into early next week.
