Winds have been out of the southwest so far on this Tuesday. It's been pretty breezy still, with gusts of 32 mph. However, a cold front is moving through the Tri-States now, which will switch the wind to the northwest. After the front clears the area, it will still be a little breezy with gusts of 20-25 mph. Some high-level clouds have moved into the area. Not completely blocking out the sunlight. So temperatures are above average again. Daytime highs for the northern tier are expected to be in the mid 50s, while the rest of the area will have highs in the upper 50s with a few locations possibly hitting into the low 60s. Once the front comes through, we'll be done warming for the day. Showers will start to form along and just behind the front as it encounters better moisture later in the afternoon and evening. The best chance for these showers is just to our southeast. If the front can squeeze out any light rain for the Tri-States later in the evening, it would be for the southern counties. That would include Ralls County in MO and Pike and Scott County in IL. Much colder temperatures are expected Tuesday night due to cold air being transported into the area behind the cold front. Lows will be in the 30s.
Wednesday looks to start of with partly cloudy skies, but then some sunshine later in the afternoon. It will be an unseasonably cool day, with daytime highs only in the mid 40s. It will be another breezy day with winds out of the northwest. Those winds will cause it to feel even cooler.
