Heavy voter turnout and long lines are expected today with strong interest in the presidential and U.S. Senate race in Alabama.
And if you’re one those who opted not to vote early – and you’re age 70 or older – you may be able to skip to the front of the line.
In Alabama, polling officials may allow a voter who is physically disabled or 70 or older to move to the front of the line at the request of the voter. Another important thing to note – accessible voting equipment is available at every polling location.
Older Americans are traditionally among the most loyal voters. In 2016, roughly a quarter of voters – 27% - were ages 65 and older. Only 9% of non-voters were in this age group, according to Pew Research.
