Letters: Suspicious west-metro fire should have been on the front page - TwinCities.com-Pioneer Press

worldinmiddleeast.blogspot.com

Politically motivated arson should have been front page news, not buried on Page 8 with the non-descript headline “Fire destroys garage, large Trump sign, Authorities says blaze was suspicious” (Sept. 24, about a fire in Brooklyn Center). In addition, there were plenty of photos floating around on the internet showing the blaze that could easily have been added.

I can’t believe if a Biden supporter’s garage and cars had been torched in the dead of night, and had pro-Trump messages spray painted on the buildings, that it would have been handled in such a nonchalant manner. Rather than hiding and downplaying the incident, there would have been follow-up stories about intimidation, plenty of finger pointing by the media and statements eagerly solicited from the aggrieved parties. Apparently, Trump supporters warrant no such treatment. Your silence is very instructive.

Correcting misdirection

As a long-time resident of Stillwater, I fully support Mike Ptacek and Sarah Stivland for re-election to the Stillwater Area School Board. Ptacek opposed the closing of three elementary schools and is someone I trust. Stivland was voted onto the board in conjunction with taxpayers outrage over BOLD. I support the direction she has taken to right the misdirection of former administration.

For a diverse perspective and in support of special education needs, I support Tim Brewington from Woodbury. I believe Bill Gilles is correct in wanting Oak Park Elementary to be a fully functioning site for children, especially with the now overcrowded classrooms  Lastly, I’ll vote for Dawn Beavers who has worked in education with inclusion of students in special and general education from 67 different nationalities. She wasn’t here during BOLD, so will work with unbiased views.
