RIVERVIEW — Front office workers, including the principal, have been quarantined at Spoto High this week because of COVID-19 and will not be at the school when it reopens Monday.
A letter to the school community from principal Jazzrick Haggins said there were three positive COVID-19 cases on campus.
As the administrative team will be in quarantine, supervisors will be pulled from elsewhere to open the school.
“Our regional superintendents, along with district leaders, are stepping in to run day-to-day operations in our absence in order to ensure the school’s success,” Haggins wrote.
“All employees on our campus have been notified about the cases, and the building has been deep-cleaned using approved chemicals and a fogging machine to disinfect all impacted areas.
Haggins pledged to remain transparent in all matters concerning COVID-19. “Please know the health and safety of our students and staff is a top priority,” he wrote. “We have capable district leaders on our campus to support our staff and students as we return to school.”
More than 350 employees and students have reported testing positive for COVID-19 throughout the district since March, with nearly half of those cases reported since late July.
