The Washoe County School District said Saturday afternoon that it has one confirmed positive case of COVID-19 at Marce Herz Middle School.
The district said in a news release that it is working in partnership with the Washoe County Health District to conduct contact tracing. An unknown number of individuals will be excluded from the school.
It is not known if the positive test came from a student, teacher, of staff member at the school, which opened this month in south Reno.
The district said that the school has begun an enhanced cleaning protocol, per Washoe County Health District and Centers for Disease Control guidelines.
In all, WCSD has reported positive COVID-19 tests from nearly a dozen of its schools since classes began earlier this month.
