Volunteers worked for 12 hours Saturday to paint a large mural showing support for the Worcester Police Department.
Brian Carroll, who lives in the city, organized the project and started a GoFundMe for people to donate. The GoFundMe raised $5,425 of the $20,000 goal as of Sunday.
“I can’t thank everyone enough who donated to this project,” Carroll said in an update Sunday. “This is our way as a community to get behind the men and women in blue to show them they are appreciated!”
Carroll said on the fundraising page he is also raising money for a banner on the rooftop of a private building. All donations will go to funding the projects. The name of the private building was not disclosed yet.
The mural painted Saturday was a large Worcester Police Department logo in front of police headquarters at 9-11 Lincoln Square.
