In a show of solidarity for driver Bubba Wallace, the entire field of the GEICO 500 pushed Wallace’s car to the front position on pit road on Monday before the race at Talladega Superspeedway.
It was an emotional moment after a long night for NASCAR. A noose was left for Wallace in his garage area after the GEICO 500 was postponed due to weather on Sunday. NASCAR said it is investigating the alleged hate crime.
Pit crews and NASCAR officials joined the walk down pit road, and then the large group gathered together for several minutes. Richard Petty, owner of Wallace’s iconic 43 car, was in attendance, making his first appearance at a race since the COVID-19 pandemic.
